Apple announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9, 2026. The big story is the camera: for the first time, an iPhone has a main lens with a physically variable aperture. Underneath sits the new A20 Pro chip, a larger vapor chamber for sustained performance, and faster charging. Here is … Read more
Scroll far enough through Instagram or TikTok and you’ll land on a face that posts every day, never ages, never has a bad hair day, and never says something a brand regrets. This is not a real girl its an Ai influencer built from Ai images not of a camera. The category is going viral … Read more
A photographer friend of mine — the kind who owns three camera bags and has strong opinions about lenses — spent two weeks with the iPhone 17 Pro and then sold his Sony a7C. Not as a backup. Sold it entirely. He said the 17 Pro’s triple 48MP system had made him realize he was … Read more
I watched a travel filmmaker friend spend twenty minutes comparing battery stats on his laptop before a three-week trip to Iceland last September. He’d been using the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but he kept coming back to one number — 39 hours of video playback on the iPhone 17 Pro Max. “That’s not a phone … Read more
My younger brother has been using an iPhone 11 for the past four years. Not because he can’t afford to upgrade — because every time he looked at iPhone prices he’d shake his head and say “I’m not spending a thousand dollars on a phone.” Then the iPhone 17e came out in March 2026 at … Read more
I remember standing at the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York last September, and this woman next to me — businesswoman, mid-forties, clearly used to carrying everything in a small structured bag — picked up the iPhone Air from the display table, held it for about four seconds, and said to nobody in … Read more
My cousin called me in a minor panic last October. She’d just walked into an Apple Store “just to look” — you know how that goes — and walked out forty-five minutes later holding a bag with an iPhone 17 in it. “Did I make a mistake?” she asked. She was coming off a three-year-old … Read more
My friend Tariq handed me his iPhone 16 Pro Max at a wedding last October and said, “Just take a photo — it’ll be better than your camera.” I grabbed it, pointed it at the dancefloor, and the shot came back so clean you could see individual sequins on someone’s dress twenty feet away. Low … Read more
I have a friend — a photographer who shoots weddings on the weekends and corporate events during the week — who upgraded from his iPhone 14 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro back in late 2024, and he texted me about two weeks in just to say: “The 5x zoom changed everything.” That’s not marketing. … Read more
My cousin called me last month, genuinely stressed, standing in an Apple Store. “They’re pushing me toward the Pro,” he said, “but the Plus is right there and it’s $200 cheaper and I don’t know what I’m missing.” I told him to put the salesperson on hold and let me walk him through it. That … Read more
My aunt has used the same iPhone SE since 2020. Not because she can’t afford an upgrade — she absolutely can — but because she genuinely doesn’t want a massive phone and she doesn’t care about having the latest thing. The SE fit in her hand, had a home button she could find without looking, … Read more
A friend of mine held out on upgrading his iPhone 12 for three full years, stubbornly insisting it still “worked fine” — until the day his camera app started freezing mid-shot at his sister’s wedding and he missed a moment he can’t get back. He called me the next day, resigned, and asked which iPhone … Read more
My cousin called me in a mild panic last summer. She was at a three-day music festival, her portable charger had died on day two, and by noon on day three her phone was at 11%. She’d already turned the screen brightness down. That was it. That was the full extent of what she knew … Read more
My brother-in-law handed me his Galaxy S23 last March and said, “I think it’s dying. It’s so slow I want to throw it at a wall.” I spent about fifteen minutes with it. No factory reset, no new apps, no hardware involved — just settings. By the time I handed it back, it was noticeably … Read more
My brother-in-law texted me a voice note in March 2026, approximately forty-eight hours after he’d put down $1,299 on a Galaxy S26 Ultra. The message was four minutes long. It covered, in order: how fast the camera opens, how the S Pen feels on the new display, his concern that the aluminum frame feels cheaper … Read more
My sister called me two Christmases ago in a mild panic because her iPhone kept telling her storage was full and she couldn’t download the app she needed for a flight check-in. She had maybe 45 minutes before her Uber arrived. We fixed it in about eight minutes without touching her photos — and she … Read more
Last month I sat down next to a coworker — smart guy, works in data, uses his PC eight hours a day — and watched him painstakingly drag and resize four browser windows by hand. One by one. I asked if he knew about Snap Layouts. He stared at me like I’d just invented fire. … Read more
A few months ago I was helping a colleague prepare for a job interview — coaching session over video call, thirty minutes before she had to log on. She asked me to quickly pull some recent news about the company she was interviewing with. I had Gemini open in one tab and ChatGPT in another. … Read more
A YouTuber I know spent three years re-recording the same intro every time he updated his channel branding. New logo, new color scheme, new music — and then another hour in front of a microphone trying to match the energy of the original recording so it didn’t sound jarring next to his older videos. He … Read more
A few months ago I was trying to research something genuinely specific — regulatory changes affecting a particular industry a client works in. I typed the question into Google. What I got back was a Reddit thread from 2023, two SEO-stuffed listicles that mentioned the keyword but didn’t actually answer anything, and a paywalled article … Read more
My manager walked into our team meeting in March 2026 and announced that everyone’s Microsoft 365 accounts now had Copilot enabled. “It’ll save you hours,” she said, with the confidence of someone who’d read a press release. Then she looked at us and added, “IT will send a guide.” The guide never came. What followed … Read more
A colleague of mine runs a small Etsy shop selling digital print art. Last year she was paying a freelance illustrator $40–$60 per image for her product listings. Then in early 2026 she texted me saying she’d just made five product mockup images in twenty minutes — for free — without creating a single account. … Read more
My nephew asked me last week which AI app he should download — he’s 22, in university, uses his phone for everything, and has about 200MB of free storage left on a three-year-old Android. He wanted one answer, not a tech blog essay. I gave him one: Gemini. Then I spent the next ten minutes … Read more
A friend of mine a personal trainer with zero video editing background posted her first TikTok in January 2026. She used CapCut, a trending template, auto-captions, and about 40 minutes of her Sunday afternoon. The video hit 380,000 views in 72 hours. She called me asking what she did right. Honestly? She just used the … Read more
I counted my subscriptions one Sunday afternoon last March properly counted them, with a spreadsheet and the total came to $312 a month. Not annual. Monthly. Adobe Creative Cloud, Notion, Todoist Pro, Spotify, YouTube Premium, some obscure weather app I’d forgotten about that was charging me $4.99… it just kept going. I cancelled seven things … Read more
My colleague walked into the office last week holding her phone like it had personally offended her. “I charged this thing at 7am,” she said, “and it’s at 22% and it’s barely noon.” She hadn’t changed her usage habits. Hadn’t downloaded anything new. The only thing that had changed was a WhatsApp update that had … Read more
Last January I watched a colleague spend eleven minutes in a meeting trying to find a task she’d written in — her words — “either Todoist, my notes app, or maybe that other one.” She had four productivity apps open simultaneously and couldn’t locate a single to-do. That’s the paradox nobody warns you about: the … Read more

Amazon Alexa+ · AI Shopping Assistant Update · May 2026 Amazon quietly dropped a huge AI upgrade into its shopping app — and it’s more useful, and more unsettling, than most people realize.
